or at least have a PHD or something. he’s gotta be as driven and intellectual as i am because i’m plenty of both and he’s gotta be on my level you know? i can’t spend the rest of my life with a total moron. i want him to have goals and dreams (and hopefully those goals and dreams’ll put him on the path to becoming uber rich)!
if i meet him in a cute and sophisticated coffee shop/bookstore on an Ivy league campus = 10 points
if i meet him in a library = 5 points
if i meet him at a frat party doing keg stands with beer dripping down his chin…..major warning flags will go off in my head and i will avoid you for all eternity depriving you of the chance to meet my sexy nigerian self. your loss. just sayin : )
first off, this is a darn cute illustration of the original album cover. but now on to the real topic at hand, i've decided that God Only Knows may just be my most favorite Beach Boys song of all time. believe me when i say that i put a ton of thought into that last statement, and it's not a statement i made lightly at all. so many of the Beach Boys's music is featured in the soundtrack to my life. my parents are nigerian immigrants and for a long time, Pet Sounds was the only English album we had at our house : ) I know almost every Beach Boys song by heart. yet there's something so lovely about the concept of a love so true and pure and real that it can change a person wholly and completely. God only knows what I'd be without this song in my life
post-potter depression was the story of my life after Deathly Hallows Part 2 came out. of course, i was at the theater by 11am saving spots in line for my brother and my ASB. when i walked out of the theater at 3am there was a hollow feeling in my heart and a raging ache in my head because of all the tears i'd shed during the final credits. i wandered around in a cloudy state....it was like a Dementor had sucked my soul and any reason i'd had for living! when JK Rowling made the Pottermore announcement, a delicate and lovely beam of sunshine broke through my thick cloud of gloom and doom. i smiled again. and then instantly began to start plotting how i'd be in the exclusive club of 1million people chosen to experience the site for Beta testing. WELL! fastforward a few weeks and now all my friends are happily exploring Pottermore because they ALL got their welcome emails and i'm still waiting on mine : ( i signed up on the fourth day after 3 unsuccessful attempts (i really hate my stupid slow computer and it's outdated Internet Explorer 7) so hopefully i'll be getting my Welcome to Pottermore Email soon! i can't wait to be sorted into a house, and chosen by a wand, and take potions classes and earn house points....I'm so excited because Pottermore is the virtual representation of my Hogwarts fantasy land! JK Rowling, I am forever in your debt
shopping for a new pair of sunglasses after my old one's broke -_- just a word of advice, it's never a good idea to just dump your favorite pair of sunglasses into your bottomless (but totally cute) beach tote. no matter what kind of precautions you take, the ill fated pair of shades will unfailingly end up crushed into little tiny pieces at the bottom of your bag. trust me, i promise, Girl Scout code of honor, just take my hard earned advice. so after rocking the same pair of sunglasses for a solid 3 months, 12 days, 7 hours and 38 minutes (don't judge me! i'm not a freak, i just saved my receipt and the time and date was on it! jeez), i'm back on the market for a new love. i like to do a little bit of research instead of just blindly waltzing into a store and grabbing the first pair on clearance, so i poked around a bit and my friend told me that she got a really cool pair at Urban Outfitters! sure enough, i go online and check em out and was instantly blown away! i'm really hearting the color=#40a0ff>floral crystal pair (you know how i love me some florals) because they look like they'd really just pop off of my dark face! and that's the reason i'm not really feelin the wooden looking pair. i feel like brown looks weird on me cuz it's too close to my skin tone. i dunno. whichever pair i buy i know i'll probably just break them again in a few months : ) one of the few constants in my life...
hey readers, rise up to the challenge and see how many outfits you can match up to their respective male musicians! (don't be a cup of lamesauce and peek at the answers at the bottom. that's no fun) listening to music is obviously an auditory experience, but any true music aficionado will tell you that the true act of music appreciation incorporates a visual aspect too! that's why it's so important for a successful music act to have a set and defined style. this style follows them and should be as instantly recognizable as the lead singer's vocals. everyone knows kurt cobain's standard flannel-ripped jeans-dirty hair-unkempt look. it's his thing. (or was). there's always something to be said for you know, talent and all that. but sometimes, the clothes really do make the musician!
...that's why you have to go out there and grab some for yourself! i feel like i've wasted this last summer of my childhood just sitting around my house or at the beach. waiting and wishing for something interesting to happen to me. what happened to taking a road trip with my friends? or breaking into the pool at 2 am in the morning? i was going to learn how to skateboard and go fishing and make kites...none of that came to be. that's why i making a vow to make the most of my last 2 weeks before senior year! summer 2011, here i come! i'm a little late, but it's been worth the wait : )
i just bought a really cute bright bluebeach cruiser bike and i can't wait to take it around town! looking back, it may not have been the smartest purchase since school's going to start in a few weeks and i won't have time to ride it really.....but i can at least enjoy it while i can right? so now that i have such a cute bike, i need some cute outfits to go along with it! lucky for me ModCloth has my back : ) their new collectionBicycle Belles is full with lovely feminie dresses and tights that make bike riding look like an absolute breeze

i'm really close with my two little brothers (one of them took the pictures for me with his ipodTouch) and we have a tradition of going to IHOP everyonceandawhile for brunch! i guess it's not really a tradition since we only do it everyonceandawhile...but we have fun with it : ) everytime we go, my brother mezu always makes fun of me for getting so dressed up
"Monica....it's not like we're going to the Grammys or something. why you so fancy for all you can eat pancakes?"
i can't help myself though! i've never been a tshirt and jeans kind of girl and that's not gonna change for awhile
blue eyeliner+ blue nail polish tips+ blue floral shirt = a love for the color blue : ) just in case you guys didn't notice
look, in my opinion the best thing you can do is find a person who loves you for exactly what you are. good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty, handsome, what-have-you. the right person is still going to think the sun shines out of your ass. that's the kind of person that's worth sticking with
